We already informed about a major change and success in Pirate Bay trial taking place in Stockholm, Sweden. Pretty much the whole peer to peer world now focuses on this event as it will serve as a precedent for many other similar cases. There are many websites dedicated to inform about the process, dubbed “Spectrial” (spectacular + trial) by TPB admins. Wired today reported that one of the acussed Pirate Bay admins Fredrik Neij also known as TiAMO played with procesuctor when he explained the hierarchy of the website. He said there’s basically no specific person responsible for the site as it’s operated by a whole hieararchy of people. The official weblog of Pirate Bay informing about the process is also adding new content daily, with numerous videos and links to world’s news servers. I picked up few quotes published at the weblog, quoted during the press conference: “ Our mission [during the trial] is to intensify, multiply and copy whatever happens. (…) We are all actors in The Spectrial, where the court is our stage. ” (Rasmus Fleischer, Piratbyrån ) “ We know that about 80% of all the traffic on the internet is torrent related. About half of these 80% are our traffic. Therefor, 40% of all internet traffic is passing through The Pirate Bay. ” (Peter Sunde, The Pirate Bay) “ [The trial is a spectacle], and all participants are nothing but actors. We like theatre, but we want it to be good. ” (Peter Sunde, The Pirate Bay) “ It really doesn’t matter if they want [SEK] 1 millon, [SEK] 16 millions or [SEK] 1 billion, they won’t get any money what so ever. ” (Peter Sunde, The Pirate Bay) If you look into detailed news about the process, be sure to check Twitter - there are numerous feeds commenting the situation basically 24/7. The main English feed is #spectrial with numerous localizations translated by volunteers and fans of TPB. TorrentFreak is also providing detailed reports from the trial every day. By the way, Pirate Bay fans hacked Swedish website of IFPI yesterday, leaving a word of support in Swedish for three admins of the tracker. Peter Sunde known as brokep posted a short article on his personal blog though, asking other supporters to stop similar attacks. Finally, the fourth day brought a pretty funny moment: When asked if advertiser Oded Daniel was involved in the technical aspects of Pirate Bay, Neij replied “No, he’s not good at that. He uses Windows…” sparking laughter among the more technically astute attendees in the listening lounge. The laughter did not come from those in the court room, which is where most of the mainstream media is seated, hinting that they missed the joke. Not only this joke points out the whole trial is a one big show and it will be very interesting to watch in the following days or weeks…
